At MSI UK, we are here to help you find a contraceptive method that is right for you

We provide contraception as part of NHS-funded abortion care with MSI UK, should you wish to start a method of contraception following an abortion.

We also offer contraception in some parts of England for people who have not accessed our abortion services.

As part of your abortion treatment, we are here to help you find a method of contraception that best suits your individual needs

During your abortion treatment, you will be offered a range of contraceptive methods, and we’ll be there to advise and talk through your options with you.

As part of your abortion care, we can provide a range of short-acting contraceptive methods (such as the combined pill or the progestogen-only pill) and long-acting reversible contraceptive methods (such as the contraceptive implant, the contraceptive injection, the hormonal coil and the non-hormonal coil).

If you do want to start a method of contraception but aren’t ready to do so during your abortion care, you can book an appointment with us within six months of your treatment.

From these clinics, we can offer long-acting reversible contraceptive (LARC) methods, including the coils and the implant.

We know it can be difficult to find information about your contraceptive options, and that contraception isn’t one-size-fits-all.

There are a range of methods to choose from, and a number of things that you can think about when deciding which method is right for you.

By using our “Choice” Contraception Counsellor, you can find personalised contraceptive advice. Simply fill out a questionnaire about your lifestyle, preferences, needs and medical history, and you’ll see a list of the most appropriate contraception options for you.

Emergency contraception

If you’ve had unprotected sex or your contraception has failed, emergency contraception (such as the emergency contraceptive pill or the non-hormonal coil) can prevent a pregnancy.
